Sweets Diner was established in October of 2007 by none other than Mom and Pop, myself and my wife Teresa.
Teresa and I have been married for 15 years and have been blessed with 4 beautiful children; Jayden, Carson, Laney and Payton.
We live in North Port and attend New Hope Community Church.
I have been in the food industry for over 25 years. It has always been what I wanted to do.
My first job was as a cook at "Carm's Italian Beef" in Chicago, when I was 15 years old. I continued working at other Mom and Pop restaurants as I attended Western Illinois. It was there I majored in Hotel Restaurant Management.
I did my internship at Marriot's Tan-Tara Golf Resort in Lake of the Ozarks, Mo. which led to a posiion in Marriot's Contract Services for Universities and Colleges.
Northwestern University, Cornell University ( where I met the love of my life, Teresa ), trinity International and Buena Vista University are some of the locations where I worked while working my way up to General Manager.
When my parents moved down to Naples we had to follow, we had 4 of their grandchildren who seem to never get enough of them. That is when I switched directions and began working for healthcare.
I worked as the Food Service Director at Jacaranda Trace in Venice for 1 1/2 years, until the economy took a turn and they could no longer afford my services.
After careful consideration and countless prayers, we decided to open a restaurant. We knew it was risky, we were well aware of the state of the economy, but there seemed no other choice. Food service was in my blood.
Thank God I was blessed with such a wonderful wife who allowed me to follow my dream. So I made her the boss.
